There are musical genres that span the centuries, and the Mass is the prime example of this. To compose a Mass today is to reveal the full spiritual dimension it embodies. The power it has acquired over the centuries enables it to reach meditative, contemplative and deeply grounded realms: a fertile ground for inspiration is matched by a sense of responsibility in the face of the power of the Latin text.
This unique musical event, lasting approximately one hour, marks the debut of a young Geneva-based composer, Christophe Bitar. By combining the power of the organ with that of percussion, his bold instrumentation offers colours that are as explosive as they are contemplative. The various highlights of this spiritual epic feature madrigal, fugal, rhythmic and operatic elements.
A rare opportunity to witness the birth of a work that celebrates both modernity and tradition, helping to shape Geneva’s contemporary cultural heritage.
